When connected to my WLM account, contacts do not appear in contact list.
I have just upgraded to latest version but this problem persist.
I encounter this issue only with my Windows Live Messenger account.
Gtalk account work properly.

I have attached the telepathy-gabble debug log file.

Yeah, Butterfly isn't supported any more with 3.3.x, see bug #663829
