"cannot read"-error message

Gimp cannot read files or folders containing Ä, Ö or Å. I'm not sure about norwegian letters. This "bug" might be common knowledge already though.

Please try GIMP 2.7.4 and report back, we won't fix 2.6 bugs any longer.
Comment 2 Akhil Laddha 2012-03-06 06:17:18 UTC
Could you please try to reproduce problem with GIMP 2.7.4 or later version and update the bug report with your findings, tia.

Have you tried to open the file via drag and drop, double click or the file open dialog?

I think this could be a duplicate of bug #659509
Comment 4 seppo 2012-03-08 06:26:48 UTC
Drag and drop, open file dialog and Open with...-dialog causes same problem. But as said before, this applies only to version 2.6.11.
Comment 5 tobias 2012-03-08 07:59:54 UTC
@seppo
So it is fixed in 2.7.x?
Comment 6 Akhil Laddha 2012-04-20 04:23:45 UTC
seppo, did you try GIMP 2.7.x ?

Sorry, I didn't. As 2.6.11 seems to be latest, stable version, I continue to use that. I know that Bugzilla-community doesn't provide support for version before 2.7.x. I tried to install 2.7.0, but something went wrong. So I don't know if the problem persist in 2.7.x and I won't (apparentely) try (anymore) to find out.

There is a release candidate of 2.8 out and no bugs against 2.6 are fixed. Please try the RC. You can reinstall the 2.6 afterwards, if you have issues.
