Summary from Ubuntu Report:

I have Precise Pangolin Alpha 1 with all updates installed.
When launching Gparted it continues to scan for devices and never starts.
I tried as normal user, as root, with and without a usb key attached.

Much troubleshooting has been disclosed in the Ubuntu report mentioned earlier.

The following patch has been committed to the Gnome git repository for inclusion in the next release of GParted:

Fix long scan problem when BIOS floppy setting incorrect

Re-opening bug report since the patch has not yet been included in a GParted release.

This patch will be includded in the next GParted release.

This enhancement has been included in GParted 0.12.0 released on February, 21, 2012.
