Description Stuart Pook 2012-01-07 16:29:36 UTC
hello

I added echo@bot.talk.google.com as a contact in Google Talk. I can chat to this echo bot. It just types back at me everything I type.

From what I have read I should be able to make audio calls to this echobot and have what I say echoed back to me. When I chatting to this bot, the actions "Audio Call" and "Video Call" are greyed out under the "Contact" menu.

Is it possible to make audio calls to Google's echo bot? Why would it not work for me?

I using empathy-chat 3.2.2 with LXDE (if that matters). This is the Debian package version 3.2.2-1.

Are there any other known Google Talk audio echo bots?

Thanks
Stuart

I'm asking this question because I cannot make audio calls to anyone. How does Empathy decide that the "Audio Call should not be active?

I'm pretty sure that's an issue with GTalk's bot but I forwarded the bug to Telepathy: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44855
