Description Ross Burton 2012-01-03 17:35:38 UTC
The rendering of text in the pango text overlay is pretty rubbish when the text is small or the glyphs are complex (this was first reported to me against CJK fonts).

For example, the sample pipeline:

$ gst-launch-0.10 -v videotestsrc ! textoverlay text="Room A" valign=top halign=left ! autovideosink

Gives the result that I'm attaching. Clearly this isn't optimal.

The drop shadow is here so the text will ben seen on any background (eg, full black and full white here). AFAICS, the legibility is mostly due to the colors being very similar (white against white/yellow).
What would you suggest ?
