Menu doesn't appear

Today I started the application from the Sound menu (picture of a loudspeaker at top right of screen). I needed to do a few things, but I couldn't see the application's menu. I attach a screenshot.

PS I tried to start the application from the Sound menu to try to get the version, but it didn't start.

Happy New Year

I'm pretty sure this is either a bug in Ubuntu's packaging of Rhythmbox (not sure how it could be) or it's just their global menu thing. Are you saying the menu appears when you launch the application in some other way?
Comment 3 el_gallo_azul 2012-01-05 00:09:48 UTC
Yes. The ways I know of are:
1. From the Sound menu
2. From the Dash, typing in 'rhythmbox' (or part thereof) and then clicking the application when it shows
3. From the launchpad, if the user has decided to 'Keep in launcher'
4. Probably opening a terminal and typing 'rhythmbox', although I haven't tried it.

For the purposes of this bug:
1. This is where the bug occurred, although I've just tried it and the application menu was fine.
2. When I reported the bug, this is when the menu was OK.
3. Same as (2)
4. No comment as I don't know.

I have seen this once before with the application 'Totem' and reported a bug, but it was also a bit quirky and intermittent. As long as it is a mystery, and doesn't happen all the time, I'm happy to forget about it (ie. close this bug).

This is almost certainly related to Ubuntu's global menu. I don't know why it would be behaving like this but you should probably pursue this in the ubuntu bug tracking system instead.
