GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 665773
Distinguish old Gnome 3 and unsupported browser
Last modified: 2012-03-15 19:41:06 UTC
When I open the web page using Google Chrome on Fedora 16 with Gnome 3.2, I get this message: You do not appear to have an up to date version of GNOME3. You won't be able to install extensions from here. See the about page for more information In Firefox this warning is not present. Please distinguish unsupported browser from outdated Gnome 3. It is very confusing otherwise.
I actually can't distinguish the two.
Well actually you *know* that the only supported browser is Firefox, right? So you know that for all other browsers you can say "you are running an unsupported browser". And display "you have old Gnome" only in Firefox.
(In reply to comment #2) > Well actually you *know* that the only supported browser is Firefox, right? That's not going to be the case for much longer. We're planning on releasing GNOME 3.2.2, which contains multiple fixes for EGO and other things.
Now that WebKit is supported in GNOME 3.2.2.1, I can't really do anything here. Any case where I see that the plugin isn't loaded is classified as an "unsupported OS"
