Description Volker Sobek (weld) 2011-12-02 13:47:09 UTC
I was thinking about something like a help button somewhere (in the panel?) that would throw you in an interactive help mode, where hovering over components in the panel/overview would highlight these components and show a description box explaining their basic functions (probably with further links to the detailed help pages).

Hey Volker. That's an interesting idea. Some kind of overlaid help with shortcuts and the like could be cool and is something that we've discussed in the past.

I'm not sure about interactive help so much though, and think that an initial getting started guide would be more effective. This is now being developed at https://live.gnome.org/GnomeOS/Design/Whiteboards/GettingStarted .

This bug hasn't gotten any real attention in nearly a year and an alternative approach is in development, so I'm going to close as obsolete.

Thanks for the idea though! :)
