GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 665292
Unable to import .pst files in Evolution 3.2.1
Last modified: 2011-12-02 20:42:19 UTC
I'm running Linux Mint 12 wihch is based on Ubuntu 11.10 and I installed from Software Manager the Evolution 3.2.1. When I try to import a .pst file after the "Import a single file" option I cannot choose the .pst type of files because is not in the drop down list of supported files. In the previous version of Linux Mint 11 when using Evolution 2.32.2 everything was ok. From Synaptics I tried to forced the installation of Evolution 3.2.0 (the only option available) but the operation failed due to compatibility issues with other packages. I tried also to reinstall the evolution-plugins which is providing the feature to import the .pst files but doesn't worked. I tried to install Evolution 3.2.2. and the respective libraries from the .deb packages published on Launchpad but I received also different error messages because of miss matching different version of libraries.
As explained in http://library.gnome.org/users/evolution/3.2/import-apps-outlook.html.en : "If the option to import Outlook personal folders (.pst files) is not available under File ▸ Import ▸ Import single file ▸ File type, your distribution might have not enabled this functionality." Please file a bug against your distribution instead.

I submitted the bug to Linux Mint team. Probably this bug is also valid for Ubuntu because Linux Mint 12 is based on Ubuntu 11.10. I checked on Linux Mint 9/Ubuntu 10.04 using Evolution 2.28.x and on Linux Mint 11/Ubuntu 11.04 using Evolution 2.32.x and this functionality exist and is working Ok.
