I'm running banshee 2.2.1. on Oneiric Ocelot 11.10. I've been having some problems with the 'play next item' button while in shuffle mode: the effects are slightly different depending on the shuffle mode but I'm pretty sure they have a common root.

Shuffle By Song: clicking 'play next item' (from notification area or from banshee has no effect if any filters have been applied to the library (for example, selecting an artist from the panel at the top). Clicking it three or four times restarts the current song. If used with no filters, it works as expected.

Shuffle By Artist: Same as above, but if used with no filters, it shuffles by song, selecting any song from any artist

Shuffle By Album: Same as Shuffle By Artist, selects any song.

I'm not sure about Shuffle by Rating or Shuffle by Score.

Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
