Description Pedro Villavicencio 2011-11-24 15:35:21 UTC
this report has been filed here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vinagre/+bug/894352

"The shortcut Ctrl-Q to quit the application does not work.

Just open the application and press Ctrl-Q. There is no open session or the like."
Comment 1 David King 2011-11-25 16:30:30 UTC
This is expected behaviour, mentioned when first starting Vinagre and in the documentation:

http://library.gnome.org/users/vinagre/stable/keyboard-shortcuts.html.en

It could be improved by, if there is no active connection, allowing keyboard shortcuts.

@David : "It could be improved by, if there is no active connection, allowing keyboard shortcuts."

Sorry for commenting a closed report, but that would be great ! I usually start Vinagre from the Keyboard : I hit the Super key in Gnome Shell 3.4 then I type "Vina", hit Enter, and then I would like to be able to hit Alt + B to access my Bookmarks. As there is no connection open yet, there's no room for confusion.

Ouch ! Just realized it's explained in the doc. My bad... Really sorry for the noise.

The problem here is that something in the View menu apparently affects behaviour.

Users would expect that any options in a menu thus named would only affect cosmetics. And, indeed, it seems to turn on or off the keyboard shortcut labels in the menu. I thought 'hmm, weird that they'd make those optional, but OK, talk about a cosmetic bonus feature'.

And I say "apparently", because this _doesn't_ seem to allow the RDP host to consume combos like Alt+F4, Super, Ctrl+W/Q, etc. The behaviour seems to be the same either way. I keep pressing Alt+F4 thinking I'm going to close a remote Explorer window, and end up losing the whole connection. What am I missing?
