GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 664702
AppIndicator and SoundMenu add unnecessary quote marks in notifications
Last modified: 2020-03-17 09:23:43 UTC
Originally reported at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/651588 Binary package hint: banshee-community-extensions Both AppIndicator and SoundMenu have a function GetByFrom to format the notification that pops up when a new track starts playing. The template used for this string is: "by '{0}' from '{1}'" that is, it puts apostrophe characters/straight single quotes around the artist and album name. These are unnecessary and distracting (although it might be good to italicize the album name). I notice that this has been fixed in the NotificationArea extension. Considering much of the notify-sharp/libnotify things are duplicated between the three extensions, it would be nice to have a separate extension that handles just the notifications instead.
Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again. See https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/Infrastructure/issues/264 for more info.
