GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 664206
Right-clicking selected files appears to clear selection
Last modified: 2013-10-20 09:32:42 UTC
this report has been filed here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/890586 "PROBLEM If you right-click on a selected file or group of selected files in Nautilus, the selection will appear to clear out while the right-click menu is up. This makes it appear as though right-clicking deselected the file(s). Left-clicking elsewhere to dismiss the right-click menu will show that they're still selected, and selecting Copy or Cut works as normal. HOW TO REPRODUCE 1. Select a file or group of files. 2. Right-click on them. EXPECTED BEHAVIOR Files will still appear to be selected when a right-click context menu opens on top of them."
in fact it doesn't "seem to clear" the selection, it does clear it. i.e select some icons in the icon view, right click somewhere, press esc, the selection is cleared
I can't reproduce this with Nautilus 3.2.1 on Fedora 16.
It could be another of those wm related issues, similar to bug #662591
I have this bug in Ubuntu Precise (12.04.3). Nautilus 3.4.2. Steps to reproduce: 1. Place mouse pointer on some object in folder 2. Press Ctrl-A to select all objects 3. Do not move mouse, just right click Selection is cleared.
Apparently, this problem has already been fixed, as bug 704289. Please feel free to reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer version of GNOME (3.8 and later).
