Description Brendan Long 2011-11-08 21:16:27 UTC
In the network applet for GNOME Shell, there is an On/Off switch for each network type (Wired, Wireless, VPN), but it only appears when we're already connected to a network. It would be nice if this On/Off switch always appeared, so you can turn off the network before waiting for it to connect.

This mainly comes up if you have a bad wireless AP. The connection will keep failing, but you can't turn it off until NetworkManager gives up.

There's also the possibility of accidentally clicking on a network and starting to associate, and having no way to stop it.

It's also less confusing for users if that option is always there.

Workaround: Go to Network Settings and turn the network off there.
