I use everyday this feature, but the delay between stopping writing and using the touchpad again is so long that it's making me c r a z y.

I think that that timing could be reduced by an half in total safe.

Agreed. I am not sure when it happened, I don't think it coincided with upgrading to GNOME 3 (Fedora 15) but at some point the delay before the touchpad re-enables has grown to 3-4 seconds, which is incredibly jarring. Especially when everything I do in a graphical environment revolves around typing something, then clicking something. One second is more than sufficient.
