GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 662121
After ugrade 11.04 ->11.10: third hierarchy level not accessible when creating a new entry
Last modified: 2018-06-29 23:02:16 UTC
Hi First a definition so that you know what I am speaking of: First level: Active, Passive, Expenses, Income Second level: Main Groups below the first level Third level: Detailed accounts Problem: I upgraded to the latest linux version of ubuntu this weekend. When I now want to create new entry in gnucash the third level accounts are not accessible (triangles are missing). This is the same in either unity or gnome. Even the autocompletion when Gnucash recognizes a manually repeated entry (like expenses for food) and i hit tab to let gnucash find the right target account, gnucash reports that I need to indicate a target account. (This is a nice feature and I would really appreciate it that is working again.) If Gnucash recognizes such a repeated entry and I confirm it with tab, gnucash is ticking "display income/expenses" yet not "finding" the account. Work around: 1. A work around is that you start in the main account window selecting the targeted third level account then hitting ctrl-t. This way the targeted third level account appears in both columns of the entry window. Since most of the financial flow goes from a second level bank account to a third level expenses account I can work around this "bug". 2. Make an entry with the second level account and save it. Then go to the respective account (so that all entries are listed) and adapt the entry by klicking on the dropdown on "book" (there third level accounts are listed too). Thanks for your efforts Stevenb
Thank you for your report. What you describe strongly resembles bug 612562, for which a fix has already been committed that will be released very soon (probably this weekend). Are you referring to the same problem in the "Transfer Funds" dialog ?
Hi Geert Yes, this bug is very similar - except that no matter whether "display income/expenses" is ticked or not - the third level (see my initial report) of income or expenses are never shown (can be worked around as described in my bug report). Perhaps the fix will solve this problem as well. Thanks Stevenb
Well, bug 612562 is actually fixed in two stages. The part that is similar to your problem is starting at bug 612562 comment 8. Norbert was also missing the third level accounts like you describe, which I managed to fix. I'll mark this bug as a duplicate.. Should you still encounter this problem after the pending 2.4.8 release, feel free to add a comment. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 612562 ***
Reassign version to 2.4.x so that individual 2.4 versions can be retired.
