Description Joel Duckworth 2011-10-17 10:18:56 UTC
Banshee appears to handle compilation albums really well, however it would be nice to have an option that lets you group compilation albums under a single entry in the artist browser. I know this wouldn't be something that everyone would want, but having a option to turn it on or off would be really useful.

The reason is because if you have a lot of compilation albums the Artist Browser list can become very large, and I'd like to just see a list of main artists that I have music for. For the remaining compilation artists, you could group them under the Album Artist field in the Artist Browser.

So if this feature was added and the Album Artist of some songs were "Various Artists" then in the Artist Browser will not show the artist, but they would be found under "Various Artists" in the Artists browser.

Alternatively you could also use a combination of Album Artist an Album Name for example "Various - Hits of the 80's" to stop all the compilation albums appearing under one entry if they have the same Album Artist field set.
