Just upgraded to 11.10 the other day, and decided to try out the Banshee media player as it seems to be the default. (Used to use Rhythmbox, which worked pretty well.) When I plug in my Sansa Clip+, Nautilus opens it up like a flash drive as it usually does (with the media player icon), and it's detected by Banshee as "Rockbox Device". I have Rockbox on it, however, Rockbox currently doesn't support USB mode on the Clip+, so I always have it booted in the original Clip+ firmware when I have it hooked to my computer.

Banshee lets me see the music I have on it, and I can play music from it fine, however if I set it so I sync my entire music collection to it, and then hit sync, a little progress bar appears at the bottom right of the screen going back and forth, never accomplishing anything. There's a red X button near the progress bar, and if I hit it, I get "This operation is still performing work. Would you like to stop it?" with Continue and Stop buttons. If I hit stop, it will say "Stopping..." above the progress bar, and the red X will become greyed out, but nothing ever changes after that. I can hit the disconnect button to eject my media player, and that works successfully, but the progress bar still sits there saying "Stopping...".

If I try to close Banshee while the progress bar is still going back and forth, I get this window: http://i.imgur.com/XNyOJ.png

How long did you wait, to think it didn't accomplish anything?

Also, we would need a log of banshee output to the terminal when you hit Sync.

I have the same problem. Terminal output from pressing the sync button twice while in debug mode is below:

[7 Debug 22:55:04.236] Starting DAP sync
[7 Debug 22:55:04.254] Starting
[7 Debug 22:55:04.624] Ending DAP sync
[8 Debug 22:59:58.149] Starting DAP sync
[8 Debug 22:59:58.491] Ending DAP sync

The player seems to continue to function, but the progress bar continues as descirbed in the original report.

Log attached.

Also in the debug are a number of problems with filenames that include , or &. I don't know if this is related.

Example:
[5 Debug 22:54:45.870] Failed to find track /media/SANSA CLIPP/MUSIC/Kid Stuff/Wee Sing/13.Martin_Luther_King,_Jr._Quote.mp3 in DAP library to load it into playlist file:///media/SANSA%20CLIPP/MUSIC/Unheard.m3u

Also, I've waited a half hour on a number of occasions, and it never finished. Originally had the problem in 2.0.0 and still have it now with latest version.

Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
See https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/Infrastructure/issues/264 for more info.
