Description Jennifer Hodgdon 2011-10-10 23:26:26 UTC
I am running Gnumeric version 1.10.13, which I obtained through the Ubuntu software center. I am running xubuntu 11.04, and neither ps nor dpkg -l reports anything with "clip" or "Clip" in the name, so I don't think I am running a clipboard manager (which seems to be the resolution of some similar bugs I found searching in bugzilla).

Here's a description of what I am seeing and how to reproduce:

a) Put some data in one or more cells. It doesn't matter if I use one cell or multiple.
b) Use the mouse to highlight/select the cell(s).
c) Use the cut command. It doesn't matter if I use control-x, or Main Menu / Edit / Cut, or right-click menu / Cut -- the behavior is the same.
d) Click somewhere else on the sheet and attempt to paste.

What I expect to happen:
The cut data is pasted in the new location.

What does happen:
Nothing is pasted.

Note that copy/paste does work fine, it's just that cut/paste does not. I also tried cut / paste to another application, and what is pasted is whatever was previously in the clipboard. Copy/paste to another app works fine. Cut or copy from another app into Gnumeric works fine too.

Note that many clipboard managers do not have clip in their name.

what do you see after cut? You should still see the cell content but marching ants around the cut cell.

See comment #20 in bug #640913. This is likely related to xfce4-settings-helper since the problem does not happen when the xfce4-settings-helper does not run.

SO I will mark this as a duplicate of bug #640913, but it is really a NOT-GNUMERIC.

I do not see the marching ants at all. I guess it could be the same bug and not related to Gnumeric.
