GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 661308
Metacity: metacity does not resume...
Last modified: 2017-09-29 22:26:13 UTC
metacity does not resume (after suspend) on evo n610c bug detected in natty. there was no pb in maverick. Symptoms after resume: - screen is swithed on, and shows password window, for unlocking, but it is frozen - mouse pointer is visible and moving, shape changes depending on position, but the screen (text area for password, buttons, remains frozen) - keyboard is active: password can be input, to unlock the desktop - even after password unlock, screen remains frozen - Ctrl-Alt-Fn is working to switch to console and back. - The only workaroud found is to switch to compiz (using the console) 2nd side affect: Power manager shows a 2nd battery (which is not present) In the past I made some testing for kernel team on the same PC to have suspend working, but I don't remember exactly for which relaese, maybe 9.04. And it has been working from this time untill natty release. It is a slow PC, so I'm used to run metacity (without compositing), not compiz. Distribution: Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric) Gnome Release: 2.32.1 2011-04-14 (Ubuntu) BugBuddy Version: 2.31.92
bug also declared in ubuntu launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/871284
Which exact metacity version is this about?
in ubuntu natty: version as in synaptic: 1:2.30.3-0ubuntu8 (natty) $metacity --version metacity 2.30.3 in ubuntu oneiric version as in synaptic: 1:2.34.1-1ubuntu4 (oneiric beta 2) $metacity --version metacity 2.34.1 oneiric final has been released today, so i'll download, re-install, test and feedback... a little later. But version of metacity seems to be the same.
Is this still a problem in case you still use metacity?
