GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 660815
list view is showing the wrong number of files/contents
Last modified: 2021-06-18 15:17:05 UTC
this report has been filed here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/863967 "Under certain circumstances Nautilus with a list view shows the incorrect number of files in a folder in the line summary when viewing the parent directory. This problem can be recreated with removable media, where the files have just been written to the folder with another program (in this case a bash backup script). In the first instance I saw, removing the media and re-inserting it did not fix the error. Sometimes the number of files will update part way though the file transfer, but the total will stick at this figure and will not be updated, even when the media is removed and re-inserted. This occurred when the directory was also created by the same script doing the copying." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/863967/+attachment/2491266/+files/Screenshot%20at%202011-10-01%2019%3A07%3A51.png
Always reproducible on 3.8.1 with these steps: 1- Launch nautilus and navigate to ~/Documents. 2- Create a new folder "Test". The size column will display "0 items". 3- Launch gedit and save new document as ~/Documents/Test/foo.txt Expected result: The size column will display "1 item". Actual result: The size column still displays "0 items". After pressing F5, it will change to "1 item". --- Bug 81764 may be related.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version of Files (nautilus), then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
