GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 660690
Chat window disappears when pressing 'Enter' to send message
Last modified: 2011-10-11 20:28:59 UTC
I have tried to search for this bug in bugzilla/internet, but couldn't find it. So here goes. I recently started experiencing a weird bug in Empathy 3.2.0 on Gnome 3.2.0. When I open a chat window from the contact list, and type my message, and press 'Enter' to send it, the Empathy chat window closes. When I re-open the chat window, my message is being sent (tried this with a friend and he confirmed the message was being sent), and I can see it in the chat window, but everytime I type something and press 'Enter' the chat window disappears. It's an MSN account by the way. I never experienced this before, but I recently upgraded to GNOME 3.2/Empathy 3.2.0 and this problem started occurring. Thank you *very* much in advance, and should you require extra information or data from me in order to solve this, please let me know.
I've met this bug too on hotmail.com contacts. I'm using Empathy 3.2.0 on my Arch x86_64. Time to skip this account? YES :-)
So this does not happen with non-MSN/Hotmail/Windows Messenger accounts for you?
ICQ Yahoo AOL Gmail and fb work fine. My hotmail chat account has this problem. (and I've disabled it... let's see who is gonna miss me :-) ) Empathy is for me a great piece of GNOME software :-)
Same for me, just tested with a Google Talk account and it works fine.. I experience this problem only on MSN/Windows Live Messenger accounts. :)
I'm experiencing the same problem on my msn account. When pressing "enter" on an IM window my irc chat window closes as well.
Created attachment 198193 [details] Concatenation of Empathy's logs when the bug occurs I have the same behavior with my MSN accounts (the other XMPP accounts work fine). Note that this bug also occurs when sending the message from the context menu and is not specific to the 'Enter' key. I've attached the Empathy's logs at the time of the bug. I limited the logs as there are a lot of private information in those so tell me if you need more. It's a concatenation of all the debug logs, sorted by time.
telepathy-glib 0.15.7 fixed the problem with my MSN accounts.
Hmm.. that could be it, I have telepathy-glib 0.15.6 installed :)
I can confirm this was the problem :) I just upgraded to telepathy-glib 0.15.7 and that fixed the problem for me too. Putting the status to RESOLVED. :)
