GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 66058
When running startx, "panel" crashes with a segmentation fault.
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Package: gnome-core Severity: normal Version: 1.4.0.4 Synopsis: When running startx, "panel" crashes with a segmentation fault. Bugzilla-Product: gnome-core Bugzilla-Component: panel Description: I just upgraded from Red Hat 7.1 to 7.2. Every time I log in as myself and run "startx", Gnome starts and the icons appear, but the bar across the bottom of the screen starts to appear and then disapperas, with the message that "panel" has a segmentation fault. When I log in as root, or if I create a new user and log in, it works OK. This only fails on the account I already had under the old version of the OS and Gnome. As part of the upgrade, I took the option of moving to the new Gnome and using the new desktop defaults. Debugging Information: (no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)... (no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)... (no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)... 0x4059dc09 in __wait4 () from /lib/libc.so.6
