When I click New and Recent the view flickers a lot. Two things here I suppose:

 * When I'm already in New and Recent there really shouldn't be any changes at all
 * We should try to make the updating more seamless and smooth

Yes, we shouldn't try to reload the active category if you click on it.

For just the active category part or the flickering in general?

I fixed the active category part and a jumping behavior when clicking on the Load more documents button. Is there any other particular flickering issue you see?
