GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 660463
reintroduce the abilty to configure action on power button pressing
Last modified: 2011-10-19 13:29:57 UTC
Few weeks ago, I've told my parents to press power button on the case or on the keyboard to shutdown the system, because that gnome3 was new stuff. No more poweroff on the menu, "why?" - "don't ask me why". Now I have to tell them to press ALT (!) into THAT menu to shutdown the system. TRICKY, never been so difficult in all history of computing to.. shutdown. this is far too much. I DON'T want to put my system on standby for many reasons. If I want it, I CLOSE MY LID or press on the menu entry. I WANT that my poweroff button shutdowns my system. STOP. please, REintroduce the option to configure the action on power button pressing. tell me, why so unpopular changes? this is a really polemical bug report, there's a designer war against the user going on. cut down all the remaining few options, we don't need them, devs will automagicaly decide for us everything they want. please, give me back my button and let me turn off my pcs as I ALWAYS did in my life. alex
Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 659045 ***
Note that this isn't quite a duplicate. Bug 659045 is about configuring the lid action. I suppose you rather intended to close this as "wontfix"?
(In reply to comment #2) > Note that this isn't quite a duplicate. Bug 659045 is about configuring the lid > action. I suppose you rather intended to close this as "wontfix"? No, the piece of code are from the same location, the lid action was mentioned in the rant in comment 0. Anyway...
