Doc strings need clarification for a proper translation
Last modified: 2011-11-16 20:21:38 UTC
Hi while translating the documentation, I hit the following strings that I cannot translate. I believe they need translator comments added. Can you pleas explain what they are about? nact-execution.xml: "Said form" nact-edit.xml: " When the current selection covers all profiles of an action, the delete action really delete the selected profiles, leaving the action as invalid if all profiles were selected." The last part is very confusing. Please clarify. nact-conditions.xml: "But the <literal>Local</literal> capability, all others are dependent of the user who executes the command." I do not understand that at all. nact-profiles.xml: "So, ordering of the profiles may be important for your action: the first valid profile found, the first - and the only - selected profile." i do not understand the last part.
Hi additional strings I found that I do not understand: nautilus-actions-config-tool.xml: "But the <literal>Local</literal> capability, all others are dependent of the user who executes the command." "In this mode, a new action or a new menu will be inserted just before the current action or menu, inside of the same parent if apply."
Adding two strings, where "regarding" should be "regardless" in my opinion, because it does not matter what the current desktop environment is. #: C/nautilus-actions-config-tool.xml:859(member) msgid "" "does your action should always appear, regarding of the desktop environment ?" #: C/nautilus-actions-config-tool.xml:875(para) msgid "" "The targeted desktop environment condition defaults to « <literal>Always " "appear</literal> », which means that the action will be a candidate to be " "displayed regarding of the current desktop environment."
Hi - Sorry for the delay !! @Christian: "Said form" is the title of a column of a table where I indicate which form of execution the corresponding parameter will lead to. E.g. "%b" parameter determines the singular form of execution for the command. Here, the "said form" is "singular". Maybe "Form of execution", or even only "Execution" would be simpler ? "When the current selection..." What do you think of just: "Be warned that selecting and deleting all profiles of an action leaves this action without any profile, so in an invalid state. The name of the action will be written with red characters." "But the <literal>Local</literal> capability..." Capabilities are: "is selected item executable by the user ?" "is selected item owned by the user ?" [...] "is selection item local ?" I try to emphasize that all (but one) capabilities depend of the user, all but the "Local" one. Maybe should I move the sentence after figure 12 where capabilities are showed ? "So, ordering of the profiles..." Profiles of an action are ordered, and they are examined in that order at runtime. The first profile whose conditions are met will be validated, and made selectable in the Nautilus context menu. I try to emphasize here that the first profile found to be valid, and only this profile, will be selected to be inserted in the Nautilus context menu. "In this mode, a new action..." When items are manually sorted in the list, new items are usually inserted just at the current position. There is nonetheless the case where an action is selected, and not expanded (or has currently only one profile). Inserting a new profile will not insert it before the action, but inside of the action. Do you think I should rather write this longer explanation ? Christian, I'am waiting for your opinions and advices before any fix on these. @Gabor: I note: "regardless" -> will be fixed today. Regards, Pierre
Hello Pierre thanks for clarifying. "Said form" -> maybe rather "repetition" ? I suggest "Be warned that selecting and deleting all profiles of an action leaves it without any profile and in an invalid state. The name of the action will be displayed in red characters indicating this state." -> "But except for the <literal>Local</literal> capability, all others depend on the user who executes the command." Above you say "Profiles of an action are ordered, and they are examined in that order at runtime. The first profile whose conditions are met will be validated, and made selectable in the Nautilus context menu." This is very clearly and well explained. May I suggest you incorporate this explanation? may I suggest -> "So, ordering of the profiles may be important for your action: the first valid profile found is the only one selected." as for "In this mode, a new action..." -> please use your more extensive explanation, it is tremendously better :) thanks for taking care.
Hi Christian, Thanks a lot for your advices. The fixes will be committed this evening. Regards Pierre
