Description Michel Alexandre Salim 2011-09-19 12:10:42 UTC
Gnome Online Accounts worked previously - I managed to register an account and tested it with contacts and talk -- but on another system I updated to GNOME 3.2 beta yesterday (using Fedora 16) it no longer works.

Attempting to add a new Google account (no account is previously defined) results in

Error creating account
Error getting a Request Token: Bad Request

Installed packages:

$ rpm -q gnome-online-accounts rest libsoup webkitgtk3 libxml2 | grep x86
gnome-online-accounts-3.1.90-1.fc16.x86_64
rest-0.7.10-1.fc16.x86_64
libsoup-2.35.90-1.fc16.x86_64
webkitgtk3-1.5.2-1.fc16.x86_64
libxml2-2.7.8-6.fc16.x86_64

Turns out that the F15->F16 update somehow results in the system clock set to the wrong timezone. Still, the error seems a bit uninformative -- is there a way to provide more information about the cause of the error, or does the return value from the server not include this?

Same problem on Archlinux. I deleted the account in gnome-online-accounts, I updated to Gnome 3.2 and I can not add a new account, bad request.

gnome-unstable/gnome-online-accounts 3.2.0.1-1
extra/rest 0.7.10-1
gnome-unstable/libsoup 2.36.0-1
extra/libwebkit3 1.4.3-1
extra/libxml2 2.7.8-1

Same error here with gnome-online-accounts from GIT master on Gentoo.

Same Error

Hi I'm using Gnome 3.2 on Archlinux from extra repositories. When I try to create an Online Account so I open taht app and click the + button. The it appears a popup window, there I can only choose Google type accounts. So I click "add" button an there appears an error popup dialog. It says "Error creating account" and in the next line "Error getting a Request Token: Bad Request".

I'm on Archlinux i686. It seems an error 32 bits build. On my netbook BGH e-nova I intalled Archlinux x86_64 and it works fine. My brother has installed on his Desktop the x86_64 version of linux too and it works fine too. But in his netbook he has the 32 bit version an has the same error.

I think the problem is in 32 bit version.

Sorry for my english...

No the "problem" is at Google actually. You can fix it by settings your computers time correctly, if it is set in the future Google won't let you authenticate (it's the same with their web services btw). Still the info dialog in this case should provide actual useful information, the current one is misleading / non-helpful.

I can confirm what Andreas is saying, I too had the same problem, my hardware clock was set like 15 mins ahead of time and I was getting the same error when adding a google account. I set my clock to the correct time and all is well.
