Hum, my checkout is still .svn based ...
I think the patch is safe too, but you should look in the git
checkout for some HACKING file or README which might indicate
who to contact. There is still a mailing list: gamin-list@gnome.org
try to send the patch there too,

gamin is not under active development anymore and has not seen code changes for many years.
Its codebase has been archived: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/gamin/commits/master
