Description Alex Hultman 2011-09-11 08:47:40 UTC
evince is named Document Viewer - great
gcalctool is named Calculator - great
totem is named Movie Player - great
nautilus is named Files - great
Brasero is named Brasero - okay because it's a nice name. So is Evince.
gedit is in my opinion a cryptic ugly name for such a simple app.

If you type evince in the search you will find Document Viewer - great.
If you would type gedit you could find Notepad (or whatever name we decide).

My opinion, give me your thoughts please. This might be solved by simply modifying the name of the .desktop file, I don't know.

gedit has already set Text Editor as generic name, not our fault that it is not used: http://git.gnome.org/browse/gedit/tree/data/gedit.desktop.in.in#n3 Thanks for reporting.

Okay so then I should probably report this bug to the GNOME team? Or do I report this to my specific distro? Thank you for quick answer.
