Click the clock button and select from the calendar a day with appointments. Open the appointments dropdown. There's a cutesy little edit button next to the appointments drop down. Clicking it opens evolution but not the evolution calendar component, which is desired.

There's a command line parameter for evolution to do just that, i.e. -c calendar

This would make it easier and much more intuitive to use.

We need bug 659487 to be fixed first.

I think this is fixed in newer versions of gnome-panel. Closing as fixed.
