Description Allison Karlitskaya (desrt) 2011-09-05 04:26:27 UTC
I just did a mega-commit to fill in the missing GDateTime translations
in every .po file from the strings stored in the locale database of the
C library. In that commit, I avoided changing anything that was already
there.

This patch is the changes that would occur if I allowed the C library to
completely overwrite the values that translators had already filled in.

po/: The rest of the GDateTime changes

These are the remaining changes from using glibc to update GDateTime
strings in the .po files, discarding all previously committed manual
translations.

It seems that there are some problems with the translations from the C
library that our translators did a better job on, so we should not
commit this.

Of note: many locales list empty strings for some values (like 12 hour time format in locales where 12 hour time is never used), so that's why this patch untranslates some strings.

pa.po: Proper updates from glibc (using pa_IN)

The original patch I uploaded contained a mistake caused by my
assumption that the "natural" country in which the language 'pa' was
spoken was Pakistan.

Here's the actual patch for pa.po (Punjabi) that pulls the values from
the Indian locale (pa_IN).

script to do the updates

I'm uploading the script that I used to do the updates by request of a couple of people who want to do similar things elsewhere...

It's worth noting that the script doesn't deal with Arabic, Shavian or Esperanto.
Arabic because it is spoken in too many different locales (with different date formats) and Shavian and Esperanto because they are not used naturally in any locales (so it's hard to guess what date formats should be used).

For most other languages there was only one locale. For a few languages I had to make arbitrary choices, though:

 - Spanish as spoken in Spain
 - French as spoken in France
 - German as spoken in Germany
 - Punjabi as spoken in India
 - Swedish as spoken in Sweden

Apparently nothing worth commenting on in 6 years. Closing.
