GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 657921
Misleading grammar in Screen panel
Last modified: 2011-09-09 09:09:08 UTC
The "Turn off after [ 30 minutes V ]" is misleading as it doesn't say what's going to happen. It seemed to me that it will turn the system off after X minutes. Which is false. I'm aware that we're in the context of the Screen panel, but it's not immediately obvious. It's also under the brightness headers, and "turning brightness off" sounds weird to me. I'd like to have clarified that 1. this is the screen that will be turned off and 2. that this will be turned off after inactivity. A possible fix could be: "Turn screen off when idle for: [ 30 minutes V ]" Related is https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=656922
The power panel includes similar strings, so let's try to be consistent. There I'm using, for example, 'Suspend when inactive for: [ 10 minutes V ]'

String freeze is on Monday, so better agree on something soon. :)
