Im working whit Linux Mint Debian Edition. The efects just can't be selected, since at least two weeks ago (today 31/08). My computer is a HP G42-372LA, so the camera is an HP Webcam 101. Greetings. At the moment the sistem is updated.

From the information you provided this seems to be a duplicate of bug #647677. The bug was fixed in version 3.0.2. Debian is still in version 3.0.1. Please open a bug report in Debian or run cheese from source.
