GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 657693
Icon labels truncated in control center shell
Last modified: 2011-09-05 14:21:51 UTC
this report has been filed here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/836604 "Expected: Long icon labels to wrap, even if they do not contain a hyphen Actual: Icons labels with a hyphen wrap at the hyphen, other long icon labels are truncated. Screenshot attached. Icon labels containing a hyphen are wrapped at the hyphen, e.g. "System-Information" but labels without a hyphen are truncated, e.g. "Sofortnachrichten and VoIP-Konten" is displayed as "Sofortnac and VoIP-Konten" where the second hyphen is used to wrap "VoIP" and "Konten" onto separate lines, but "Sofortnachrichten" doesn't fit on one line and is truncated" screenshot: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/836604/+attachment/2329542/+files/appearance.png
possible line breaks are determined by pango. it doesn't do hyphenation
Maybe doing PANGO_WRAP_WORD_CHAR at least is an improvement in the mean time.
