Description dallan507 2011-08-28 16:32:31 UTC
Banshee does not detect Walkman NWZ-S544, i.e. it does not appear in the sidebar as a device and can therefore not be synched. Instead it is mounted as a USB mass storage device by Nautilus. Rhythmbox on the other hand does find the device correctly and the device is not mounted as a USB drive by Nautilus (provided Rhythmbox is running before the player is connected).

Rhythmbox does not seem to offer an MP3 encoder for ripping CDs or transcode tracks to the Walkman when synching. I can drag and drop files using Nautilus but that's not really the point. I'm still resorting to Windows to rip CDs and synch with my media player, which is rubbish.

I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 and Banshee 2.0.1, Gnome 2.32.1, kernel 2.6.38-11 generic.

This sounds similar to bug #633840, although it's for a different model (NWZ-S545).

Could you provide the relevant part of the output of one of the following commands, while the device is connected :
udevadm info --export-db
or
lsusb

Thanks for the bug report.

As it's the same product ID as in bug #633840, I'm marking this as a duplicate.

Please feel free to report any further bugs you find.
