I'm pretty sure I'm right about the kernel version, but certainly with 3.0.x series of kernels the colours are wrong (bled) using Cheese with a Microsoft vx-3000 webcam.

I've confirmed that kernel drivers are OK, since camorama produces correct colouring, as does using the cam under Windows 7 in VirtualBox. I've attached comparitive images from both cheese and camorama.

Additional: Forgot my config:

Linux Mint Debian Edition tracking Debian testing fully updated.

Current kernel 3.0.1-rc3 - self-build.

This affects myself and quite a few Ubuntu Oneiric users for resolutions above 640x480.

From what I've seen (see the duplicate above), it looks like the Saturation plan is misaligned.

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all
old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen
updates for a long time.

If you still use cheese and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a
recent and currently supported version, then please feel free to report it at
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/cheese/-/issues/

Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented
(volunteer workforce and time is quite limited).
