- have an empathy chat open in the message tray on the right
- when you receive new messages, the message counter will increase
- click on the contact icon and type a reply
- the message counter doesn't clear when replying; it will clear only when you click away to close the notification bubble. I would expect it to clear sooner, probably as soon as I click on the notification, but definitely after I submit the reply.
