GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 657002
Incorrect use of button labels in Network panel
Last modified: 2011-08-26 17:47:25 UTC
When configuring any network connection in the Network Panel, there's a button called "Options...". This doesn't make much sense as a label. Buttons should either represent an action or a place. The use of ellipsis is inconsistent with the rest of the OS as well. There are a few occasions throughout the networking UI where this is not used right. Some suggestions: "Options..." -> "Settings" or "Configure..." "Options" is not widely used, and does not require input "Save..." -> "Save" No further user input is needed. "Routes..." -> "Routes" or "Edit Routes..." "OK" -> "Save" OK is lame.
The rest of the buttons you mention are actually in nm-connection-editor, and it's planned to remove the need to use it. See bug 645003. commit 99de2e35488b095b776a793441a67735e3c92dec Author: Bastien Nocera <hadess@hadess.net> Date: Fri Aug 26 18:44:37 2011 +0100 network: Rename "Options..." to "Configure..." As "Options..." isn't an action, and is thus not a good button label. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=657002
