Description Sven-Hendrik Haase 2011-08-13 02:32:23 UTC
Whenever I draw onto a layer, I get
gimp_display_shell_pointer_grab: gdk_pointer_grab failed with status 1
on my terminal and Gimp freezes. This makes Gimp totally unusable for me.

I'm using Arch Linux x86_64. 2.7.1 works fine. Distro's bug: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/23850

I've tested moving my Gimp config to no avail. My gtk is version 2.24.5.

This seems to be an issue with KDE/kwin. It works fine in a plain X server.

possibly related to 645315,
see if killing xscreensaver 'solves' the problem
Comment 3 Michiel Brentjens 2011-09-11 21:51:28 UTC
I run Gimp 2.7.3 on Ubuntu 11.04 under the XFCE desktop. Killing xscreensaver did indeed solve this problem for me.
Comment 4 Sven-Hendrik Haase 2011-09-12 02:45:26 UTC
Seems magically resolved in 2.7.3 despite having no relevant changes. People on Arch tracker seem to still report problems, though. If xsreensaver is the cause, then this bug should still be fixed.
