Description Julien Olivier 2011-08-05 08:57:52 UTC
In gnome-shell, when you minimize a window (right-click on the title bar and select "minimize"), the window disappears, but when you go to the overview, it is still visible. I would expect the minimized windows to only be visible in the dash, not the overview.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
Comment 2 Rui Matos 2011-08-05 13:49:30 UTC
This is certainly not FIXED. It may be NOTABUG or WONTFIX though. I'm not even aware of plans for minimized windows. Owen talked about on the ML

http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-shell-list/2011-February/msg00192.html

but I don't think the designers have come up with a plan for this.
Comment 3 Florian Müllner 2011-08-05 14:10:30 UTC
Marking as duplicate of a bug which has patches. However, as Rui said, it's yet undecided if we actually want this, so bug 651569 might end up NOTABUG anyway ...

Comment 4 Julien Olivier 2011-08-05 14:36:36 UTC
Well, from my point of view, this bug report is about fixing an already existing feature (minimization) which has a clear bug (windows still visible in the overview while minimized). Bug #651569, however, is about finding a better way to hide applications. Minimization could well be a solution to bug #651569 too, but this is not the point of this very bug report.
