GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 655959
Yahoo not accessible with @rocketmail.com address
Last modified: 2011-08-15 06:59:57 UTC
Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric) Empathy 3.1.4 I'm unable to login to my yahoo-account, because Empathy wouldn't let me enter my correct login-name, which is "my.name@rocketmail.com"! The login work on various Chat-Clients. Not even editing the config files (can't remember, where they are located) had helped. The sign-in-button is greyed out as soon as I set the "@" into the entry-box. BB
How did you end up with such Yahoo ID? See http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?locale=en_US&page=content&y=PROD_ACCT&id=SLN2056 : "reate a user name with at least 4 characters but no longer than 32 characters. The user name must start with a letter. Your user name can contain letters, numbers, and one dot (.)."
Does that matter, how the ID came? Btw. I like that ID! Who want's a @yahoo.de? Anyway, the ID is valid at - yahoo-webpage, - pidgin, - adroid-client (IMO), - Symbian-Client, etc. and as far as I remember did work in older versions of empathy (Ubuntu 10.04). AND the username contains 4 letters and 6 letters separated by one dot. And all that (as told above) ...@rocketmail.com. BB

Question is now: How do I apply this patch? I'm not a pro.
Best to wait that your distribution upgrades to GNOME 3.2 then.
