Description Yongzhi Pan 2011-08-03 06:02:58 UTC
I live in Beijing, China. I can see the weather of Beijing. When I travel across China, I find there are very few cities available. For example, there are only one city, Lanzhou, for Gansu Province. Not to mention it is for Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport, which is 70km away from the city. This makes the applet useless unless you are in the major cities of the country.

Only now I find the cities are hard-coded in /usr/share/libgweather/Locations.xml. I thought it was retrieved online on the fly. Forecastfox addon of Firefox probably gets cities online, and it has even has small towns of China.

Are there any plan to make the applet retrieve cities online? So that we can have a lot more cities. I hope it works this way. Thanks.

I find there are many bugs about missing locations in Launchpad. I shout here thinking that upstream developers are more responsive.
