GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 654193
Online accounts: Design review
Last modified: 2012-05-05 12:45:39 UTC
Initial comments on the new online accounts panel: The 'Add account' popup should be changed from the current combobox to use one button per account; when we do that, the 'Ok' button becomes redundant. For a mockup, see the 'Add an account' step in https://live.gnome.org/GnomeOS/Design/Whiteboards/InitialSetup It should look very similar to that, using the same icons in the buttons that we use in the list. The main panel needs some love too, but Jon wanted to have more time for a thorough review of that. Thoughts so far: - There should never be a horizontal scrollbar on the list, ellipsize if necessary - Both text lines in the list should use the same text color (seeing white-on-blue 'Google' but black-on-blue account name, here) - Probably better to use checkboxes for the 'Use for ...' options instead of switches, and instead have an overall 'Disable' switch for each account. - Disabling e.g. 'Use for mail' should not nuke all data in evo, probably. That should only happen when I explicitly delete the account, and the panel should probably warn in that case.
Note that half of the UI now live in the control center now (the other half in gnome-online-accounts). See also Bug 652571.
