GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 651837
Use OpalIMContext class for IM
Last modified: 2020-06-06 16:29:21 UTC
Robert: "The correct way to receive Instant Messages is via the new OpalIMContext class. This will allow for future non-SIP IM to be used. For example, there are a lot of Jabber (XMPP) classes already in PTLib, one day in the not too distant future, I hope, we will bolt that into the OPAL system and there will be OpalPresentity and OpalIMContext derived concrete classes so the user application will barely change at all. You can look at OpenPhone for how this is done."
Urgent, so that we do not forget it.
Ekiga is not under active development anymore: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/Infrastructure/-/issues/273 Ekiga saw its last release 7 years ago. The last code commits were 4 years ago. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (and transfer the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is deprecated) if anyone takes the responsibility for active Ekiga development again in the future.
