With week numbers

Currently you have to use dconf-editor or gnome-tweek-tool or the gsettings command line interface to enable week numbers. I can not see any reason not to have week numbers in the calendar, and if people do not want them they can always remove them using the above.

Also, as can be seen from attached screen shots, showing week numbers does not take up very much more space.

It is not a problem for people who don't *want* them, it is a problem for people who don't *understand* them - week numbers are not universally used, for instance in the US, the concept of week numbers is pretty much unknown. Locating an option to enable something you know exists is a lot easier than locating an option to disable some confusing (apparently) random numbers.

So changing the default for all users is not an option, but I guess we could use a localized default value, so locales where week numbers are commonly used could default to showing them.

I think the option needs to be somewhere in Date and Time settings. Yes, this hurts the beauty of the dialog a bit, but gnome-tweak-tool is settings users "don't need", this is a setting that users will need. There are certainly locales where some users don't understand week numbers and other users need them.

(In fact, this most of the world. In some of the world they are common in business, in some of the world very rare in business, but outside business they are seldom used.)

[ Plus, there's some alignment problem that makes them look really, really, ugly ]

I quite strongly disagree that showing week numbers by default would be bad. Yes, week numbers are not used all over the world, but I can see no harm in showing them to people who are not used to them. I would think that any sane person would quickly realize that the "random" numbers (18, 19, 20, 21, 22) in the attached screen shot have some relation to what week it is. They might be mad that the week numbers are taking up space and focus, but I think there loss is outweighed by the gain that by those that want/need week numbers in there calendar.

I don't think we should be showing week numbers by default.
