GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 651191
banshee crashes on startup
Last modified: 2011-05-31 23:43:45 UTC
This report was originally filled at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/banshee/+bug/786527 When trying to start banshee, the application crashes nearly immediately: the application window opens, but after less then a second it disappears again. Output to stdout and stderr seems to indicate that it (or some library) suffers a segmentation fault. I'll append the output to this bug report. I looked through the already filed "crashes on startup" reports, but as far as I can see mine is different from the others. All the best, Jochen Banshee Debug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/banshee/+bug/786527/+attachment/2138480/+files/stdout.log Udevadm: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/banshee/+bug/786527/+attachment/2144020/+files/udevadm.txt Gvfs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/banshee/+bug/786527/+attachment/2144021/+files/gvfs-mount.txt
Per originall reporter request this report can be closed, Thank you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi, I've managed to make the crash go away by doing the following: 1) I've uninstalled all packages related to Ubuntu One 2) I've deleted every file/directory in my home directory which had a name matching "*[bB]anshee*" 3) I've rebooted to get rid of some ubuntu one related processes which didn't disappear during package removal After this, banshee starts up with no problem. I did steps 1 and 2 together, so no way to tell which one was the relevant one. Conclusion: as far as I am concerned, this bug can be closed.
