Description Ingo Ruhnke 2001-11-22 09:20:20 UTC
Currently Nautilus provides only 'View as List' and 'View as Icon', both
are very inconvenient when dealing with larger collection of files. The
first shows to much details on each file and not enough files on one
screen, so one has to scroll. The second one doesn't show any detail once
one has zoomed out so that enough files are visible.

I personally find it also much more convenient to have the filenames beside
the icon/thumbnail and not below them, especially when the icon has the
same height as the filename.

A nice way to prototype something like this would be to implement it
as a view component. That's why Nautilus has the component
architecture. Anyway, the list view itself needs a lot of improvement
and we should consider adding other views too.
