GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 650931
sorting options
Last modified: 2011-06-04 02:38:59 UTC
One thing I find that annoys me about every music player I have used on linux is the sorting options for the library. Seriously they are just non-existent. I would love be able sort by album artist. My collection has a lot of Various Artist albums like DJ mix CDs. My library is all over the place with no sorting for specific fields and ALL my albums have been properly tagged.
Created attachment 188459 [details] Adding the Album Artist column In Banshee, you can choose which columns you want to show in the track list, and you can sort by most of these columns, including Album Artist. Simply right-click on the column header and click on "Album Artist" to show that column. Once that column is visible, you can click on that column header to sort by it just like you would with the "Artist" column. Or is this not what you're looking for?
yeah that does it for the most part, but not completely. it would be perfect if the sorting was also displayed in the album view as well.
(In reply to comment #2) > yeah that does it for the most part, but not completely. it would be perfect if > the sorting was also displayed in the album view as well. With some sorting options, it wouldn't work to automatically reorder the album browser to match the library sorting. For example, sorting by Time or Rating wouldn't necessarily keep albums grouped together, which would create a big mess in the album browser. Personally, I think it's best to keep the to keep the album browser sorting separate from the main library. There are a couple bugs that, when fixed, might help you get what you're looking for. Bug 544758 - Sort the album list by date Bug 561109 - Group albums in the album list by artist Bug 540873 - Add custom filters, such as "Year" and "Genre" to the browser I'm going to close this report as a duplicate, but if you disagree, feel free to re-open it. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 544758 ***
