GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 650839
Add option for alarms into calendar preferences
Last modified: 2011-08-26 06:10:17 UTC
Hello, I'm on Archlinux 64 bits - gnome 3 with gnome-shell enabled - evolution 3.0.1-1 As I'm using Evolution at work I'm connected to the calendars of my collegue's team. Of course they have reminders on their events. With Evolution we can't disable alert/reminder on selected calendars so during each day I received the reminder of all my collegues, which isn't pretty pertinent and a little annoying. So what I would want is a check box in the property of any calendar to enable/disable reminder/alert. Regards, nm ps : I'm currently connected to the shared calendars with Caldav but that option should be available for any calendar
(In reply to comment #0) > With Evolution we can't disable alert/reminder on selected calendars Thanks for a bug report. By any chance, does Edit->Preferences->Calendar and Tasks->Alarms tab and unchecking those calendars you do not want to see alerts from, work for you? That's there just for purpose like this.
Hello, Thank you for your reply. I did found the option in Edit->Preferences->Calendar and Tasks->Alarms as you said. So firstly, do excuse me, I didn't found it when creating this ticket. But now that I know that the option exists I want to introduce a feature request : - currently we can access to some options with a right clic on any calendar, then clic on 'properties' - but in that properties window, we can't modify the alert feature. Why? The calendar's options are splitted in the interface. I think we should also be able to control the alert options in each calendar properties window. Regards, Nicolas MICHEL
Thanks for the update. Your request makes sense to me, it will be good to have "Show reminder notifications" in calendar preferences.
Created attachment 194698 [details] [review] evo patch for evolution; This adds the option to calendar preferences.
Created commit 7fe7c16 in evo master (3.1.90+)
I need a screenshot or at least steps how to test this, so I can update the user docs.
Milan: Looks like this adds a setting for all calendars, also the default local personal one. Would disabling this setting mean that I will not receive any notifications anymore about alarms that I set on my personal appointments?
So you found it, in a calendar view, right-click above a calendar name and choose Properties context menu option. And yes, that's what it is for. It doesn't do that for every calendar, it does exactly the same thing as the Edit->Preferences->Calendar and Tasks->Alarms tab, only for sources which are listed there.
