Description Luc Pi 2011-05-19 11:18:13 UTC
vertimus send some messages to the team list, but leave out some others. The list is missing valuable comments, could all comments be sent to the list?
Comment 1 Claude Paroz 2012-03-07 17:44:07 UTC
Now the form is allowing to choose if the message will go to the mailing list or not.
Comment 2 Luc Pi 2012-03-08 08:36:58 UTC
Thank you Claude!

IMHO it's a plus, though I am skeptical on the overall picture.

I wish all comments go to the list, otherwise some discussions are "hidden" to the group, unless they visit the specific page. I feel it's good learning to go through the discussions and you can eventually help when questions are arisen.
Comment 3 Claude Paroz 2012-03-08 08:45:14 UTC
If you really want to follow all discussions on all modules, the best solution is to subscribe to the RSS feed of the team.

I think it's better to let the user choose when a comment is worth hitting the mailing list and when not. Sometimes, depending on the comment, it's just noise for the ML.

Well, that's not compatible with an email based workflow.

For sure it will happen that people forget to check the box, rendering the system actually not reliable.

For me (I understand perfectly that there might be other views), "No comments" translate/committed messages are mostly noise. User comments are valuable data. So (again, for me) the current system sends noise and filters out information.

With modern email software it's easy to go through massive amount of emails and skip noise.

BUT,
I don't want to feel hard discussing on the matter, in fact I am OK to leave this as FIXED, and eventually re-discuss it later. As you wish.

And of course I would not like to push something that would benefit only me and annoy all the others :) Does it?

Indeed, I'd like to let the current system for some time. Then it could be possible to get feedback from other teams also to get some consensus on the right way forward, if any.
